How to Prepare Your Home for a Pressure Washing Appointment
A little preparation before your pressure washing appointment goes a long way. It helps our crew work faster, protects your belongings, and ensures we can clean every surface thoroughly. Here's exactly what to do before we arrive.
Why Preparation Matters
A well-prepared home allows our crew to work efficiently and safely, which means better results and a faster job. Most of the prep is simple and takes less than 30 minutes. Here's what we recommend before your SHS Exterior Cleaning appointment.
Outside the Home
Move outdoor furniture, grills, potted plants, and decorations away from the areas being cleaned. This protects your belongings and gives our crew clear access to all surfaces.
Close all exterior electrical outlets and cover any outdoor outlets or fixtures that aren't weatherproof. While we take care around electrical components, it's a good precaution.
Move vehicles out of the driveway if driveway cleaning is included. This gives us full access to the surface and prevents overspray on your car.
Secure or remove any loose items that could be moved by water pressure — doormats, lightweight decorations, garden tools leaning against the house.
Inside the Home
Close all windows and doors. This is the most important step. Even a small gap can allow water to enter during exterior cleaning. Double-check basement windows, which are easy to overlook.
If you have a pet door, block or lock it for the duration of the cleaning. We don't want any curious pets wandering out during the job.
Keep pets and children inside during the cleaning. High-pressure water and cleaning solutions are safe when used correctly, but it's best to keep everyone clear of the work area.
What You Don't Need to Do
You don't need to pre-rinse or pre-clean any surfaces — that's our job. You don't need to provide water (we connect to your outdoor spigot with your permission). You don't need to be home during the cleaning, though we do ask that someone is available at the start to confirm access and walk through any specific concerns.
After the job, we'll do a walkthrough to make sure everything looks right before we leave. If you notice anything after we're gone, call us — we stand behind our work.
